ALBUMAZAR
"Albumazar" (in the possession of Charles Grant Seymour), The Phonogram, February 1892
A Comedy about the Phonograph in 1614
In the February 1892 edition of The Phonogram a 'comedy' was printed that was humourously being 'represented' as an ancient document that showed that "in past ages man produced inventions indicating the same fertility of brain and power" that could produce "an instrument performing functions similiar to those effected by the phonograph."
The explanation of "The Phonograph in 1614" is followed by the illustrated page from the book that is said to have the appearance "as though unearthed from the tombs of the Pharaohs."
